STOLEN VALOR: The Records Are In

Thanks to multiple FOIAs, Cory’s military records are now available at the Army FOIA reading room: https://foia.army.mil/. Here’s a recap:

  • 2003: Cory's Original DD214 Issued - mistakenly listed Bronze Star

  • 2020-2024: Cory claimed he had the bronze star when he had not been awarded it; he sought donations based on this claim

  • 3/05/24: Following inquiries into his records, a DD215 Correction was issued deleting the Bronze Star from his DD214

  • June 2024: Recommendation for Bronze Star was submitted. Notably, most of the justifications for the award were either fabrications or stole valor directly from other soldiers. Multiple soldiers and old news articles from 2003 support these assertions. Col. Bray told Congresswoman Mace and others that he did not sign off on the claims, nor did he sign the recommendation. Also of note: the recommendation was submitted without valor 20 years after the fact -- and 4 years after Cory started claiming that he had it already.

“He [Cory Mills] didn’t save my life,” Heit said. “I don’t recall him being there, either.” https://www.theblaze.com/news/stolen-valor-veterans-dispute-cory-mills-record-he-fooled-a-lot-of-us

“It leaves Mills as the only alleged witness of his own broadly refuted claims of valor during the battle.

…claims that after Sgt. First Class Joe Ferrand was “grabbed by an enemy insurgent,” Mills “threw himself at the enemy insurgent and subdued him, saving the life of SFC Ferrand.”

The problem for Mills is that Ferrand has sworn the heroic tale is made up. It is “false and a [f]abrication,” Ferrand said in a handwritten statement I reviewed that has been shared with congressional investigators. “The act never took place. The event never happened.”“

“Cory Mills leans on comrade's testimony, only to have his 'twice wounded' tall tale blown up”https://www.theblaze.com/news/cory-mills-leans-on-comrades-testimony-only-to-have-his-twice-wounded-tall-tale-blown-up

Former military colleagues interviewed by Blaze challenged several aspects of Mills' public military narrative, including claims regarding Ranger service, sniper training, injuries, and combat experience.

“People could have f**king died depending upon him if he failed to perform.” https://www.theblaze.com/news/stolen-valor-veterans-dispute-cory-mills-record-he-fooled-a-lot-of-us

“But the stuff that [Cory Mills] was saying … I remember thinking, ‘What are we doing? Is this out of a movie?’ Snipers have a verbiage … sniper observer monologue. … This guy doesn’t know s**t about being a sniper.” https://www.theblaze.com/news/stolen-valor-veterans-dispute-cory-mills-record-he-fooled-a-lot-of-us
