Republicans are calling on Cory Mills to resign, citing a long trail of scandals and broken trust. Mills was one of just four GOP members who joined democrats to shield Rep. Ilhan Omar from censure after she mocked conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination attempt—a move many saw as a stunning betrayal. That decision only adds to the growing list of controversies surrounding him: allegations of stolen valor, unverifiable military awards, false claims of heroic battlefield rescues, questionable financial dealings, millions in unresolved business debt, and shifting allegiances that raise questions about his loyalties.
On top of this, Mills is under investigation for allegedly assaulting a mistress in Washington, D.C., with police reportedly overhearing him instructing her to lie about the source of her bruises. Despite claims of divorce, no records exist in D.C., Virginia, or Maryland to show his marriage was ever dissolved. Meanwhile, his Florida mistress has sought a restraining order; the former Miss United States accused Mills of sextortion and taking “money bags.” She testified in court that she “begged” him to stop contacting her.
Taken together, these scandals form a damning picture of a politician mired in deceit, abuse, and betrayal of the public trust.
